Vietnam celebrated the communist victory over a US-backed government today, parading troops on the same boulevard used by tanks on their way to smashing the Presidential Palace of South Vietnam 30 years ago.

Can anyone miss the similarities between what happened in Vietnam and what's happening in Iraq? Between the fake falling governments and the populations fighting against the occupiers?

Questioning a suspected Vietcong.

and questioning one of the Iraqis...
They say the next big thing is here,
that the [liberation]'s near,
but to me it seems quite clear
that it's all just a little bit of history repeating

My Lai, Vietnam: Among the hundreds of unarmed civilians massacred by U.S. soldiers on march 16th, 1968.

Ramadi, Iraq: A boy lies dead in a street among the hundreds of unarmed civilians massacred by U.S. soldiers on Thursday, April 21, 2005
Did anyone notice that the number of US soldiers killed in Iraq in the first two years of this war is more than the number of US soldiers killed in Vietnam in the first two years of that war?
