Nonviolent resistance

- Say hi to Aspen, the very juicy and loud guinea pig living upstairs. Aspen is a bad example of nonviolent resistance because he scratched my hand today. Bad Boy Aspen!
- Read this impressive Washington Post op-ed written by Ismail Haniyeh, the elected prime minister of the Palestinian National Authority.
- Today was my eighth day without food. Troops Home Fast is getting a world-wide support with more than 3,700 participants so far. We're giving a great example of non-violent resistance against the Iraq war, and I feel very proud of joining such a campaign. We're rotating our fasts as well, so I'll break my fast this midnight, but other people will be starting this midnight. Then when they break their fast I'll start mine again. I've heard that Lynn Woolsey will be among people starting their fast tomorrow. So... Lynn Woolsey ... Welcome on board!
- In addition, US Representative Maxine Waters (CA-35) Representative Lynn Woolsey (CA-6), Representative Barbara Lee (CA-9) and members of the "Out of Iraq" Congressional Caucus will hold a press conference on Thursday, July 13th at 11:00 AM EST to express their support for individuals participating in Troops Home Fast. I was told that I'll be one of the speakers too.
- Abir Al-Janabi's birthday is in 5 weeks. She would have turned 15 in August 19th. If anyone has ideas on how to organize some nonviolent protests on her birthday to demand the complete withdrawal of the occupation troops, send me an email.
