Someone from the PBS newhour show interviewed me a few days ago, before the clashes started in the south, and I just found the piece now. I don't know why their coverage of the news from Iraq is called "Iraq in Transition"! what a romantic title for an illegal occupation that has killed one million Iraqis...
anyway, this quote can explain the root cause for the recent clashes in Basra:
"This will mean an official end to the separatist project of Iraq," Jarrar said.
The separatists freaked out of course, and sent their thugs to kill any political rivals.
