It’s better to die on your feet than to walk crawling on your knees
Niki drew my attention to an excellent interview posted on MEMRI's website.
MEMRI is the "main arm of Israeli propaganda" in the United States, as Norman Finkelstein puts it.
For some reason, MEMRI posted this amazing clip on their website. I think they tried their best to edit the clip and show Finkelstein as an extremist, but they've failed miserably.
read these great lines:
there is a fundamental principle. People have the right to defend their country from foreign occupiers, and people have the right to defend their country from invaders who are destroying their country. That to me is a very basic, elementary and uncomplicated question.
It is very basic indeed. History will recognize that the Iraqis, Palestinians, and Lebanese who are resisting against foreign intervention and defending their land from invaders as heroes.
if you’d rather live crawling on your feet, I could respect that. I could respect that. People want to live. How can I deny you that right? But then, how can I not respect those who say they would rather die on their feet? How can I not respect that?

btw... A few years ago, Juan Cole described MEMRI as an "anti-Arab propaganda machine" that "cherry-picks the vast Arabic press", then he was threatened with a lawsuit by Colonel Yigal Carmon, a former Israeli official and the current president and founder MEMRI.
I'm happy that people like Cole and Finkelstein can stand up for these thugs and create a safe space for the rest of us to speak truth to power.
